On River Road, 7.2 miles west of Highway 101, turn north on Wohler Road, crossing the old Wohler Bridge over the Russian River. Turn left on Westside Road to find Gary Farrell Winery and Moshin Vineyard. For more wineries, turn back toward Wohler Road, and continue north up Westside Road toward Healdsburg. You will soon come to Porter Creek, Arista, Hop Kiln, C. Donatiello, Matrix and Twomey.
RIVER ROAD WEST
River Road runs west from Highway 101 just north of Santa Rosa, and joins up with Highway 116 in Guerneville heading toward the Pacific Ocean. Just half a mile west of the 101/River Road intersection is the small town of Fulton and Kendall Jackson Winery Tasting Room. Travel down Fulton Road south to Piner Road and turn right. About a mile on your right, turn onto Hartman Lane and you'll come to Benovia. Back onto Piner, at the intersection of Olivet Road are the wineries of DeLoach, Inman, Sunce, Hook & Ladder, Pellegrini and Harvest Moon. So many to choose from! If you want to stick with the River Road area, head west on River Road from Fulton about 2 miles (just before you get to Olivet Road) and you will find Martinelli Winery on your left. Just past Olivet Road, turn north of River Road onto Slusser Road and follow it to find Russian Hill Winery near the intersection with Laughlin Road. If you return to River Road, you'll come to Woodenhead Vintners, then Joseph Swan Winery and Martin Ray Winery are located just down Laguna Road on the left hand side. Six miles west of the intersection of River Road and Trenton-Healdsburg Road is Korbel Winery and Deli. The distance on River Road from 101 to the Korbel Winery is 12 miles and contains ten wineries for your enjoyment.
RURAL HIGHWAY 116
Highway 116 runs northwest from Cotati through Sebastopol, Graton, Forestville, Monte Rio and Guerneville, before following the Russian River out to the Pacific Ocean. On Occidental Road just outside the town of Sebastopol you will find Balletto tasting room. In and around Graton are the tasting rooms for Merry Edwards, Lynmar Winery, Marimar Estate, Dutton-Goldfield Winery, Graton Ridge Cellars, Dutton Estate-Sebastopol Vineyards. Between Graton and Forestville is the tasting rooms for Iron Horse, Kozlowski Farms and Deli, and Russian River Vineyards. Heading west on Hwy 12 past Sebastopol, you will find Freestone Vineyards.
EASTSIDE ROAD/OLD REDWOOD HIGHWAY
Heading north on Highway 101, take the first Healdsburg exit. Go under 101, turning west (left) onto Old Redwood Highway. You will now be traveling in a southern and westerly direction away from Healdsburg. Watch for Limerick Lane on the left - turning here will bring you to Christopher Creek, Viszlay (by appt.) and Merriam Vineyards. Continuing down Old Redwood Hwy will bring you to Acorn Winery, Rodney Strong Vineyards and J Vineyards & Winery. Here, within a mile of each other, are six wineries to sample.
The City of Healdsburg is just inside the Russian River Valley Appellation's northern boundary. Traveling north on Highway 101 from Santa Rosa, take the first Healdsburg exit, (not the Central Healdsburg exit). Slow down as you cross the bridge over the Russian River. Just after you cross the bridge, turn right onto Front Street. Travel about one block, to a group of tasting rooms located side by side, including Davis Family Vineyards, Holdredge Wines and Sapphire Hill. Should you travel to downtown Healdsburg, you'll first come along the tasting room for Longboard Vineyards, and in downtown La Crema, Selby Winery and Chateau Felice. Healdsburg also offers the visitor a wide choice of hotels, inns and B&B's, many small boutiques and several fine restaurants.
